After a long hiatus, I am back to blogging as a mother of two! I am starting out small since the idea of attempting to create something besides a meal is a bit intimidating, but I hope to get back in the habit of looking for the sweet moments in everyday life. To begin, I'd like to tell you a story:
Once upon a morning, in the beginning of those dog days of summer, a pajama fairy darted into bed with me. She was sweet as can be. I tried to snuggle her and kiss her, but she was quick and fleeting and before I knew it, she darted away just as quickly as she had come. When she returned, I heard her coming. Her feet fell with sharp little clops onto the wooden floor as she trooped to my bed once more.

"Mommy, these are my glass slippers," she said with a voice like a little bell. "I need to give one to the prince." It was a much better rendition of the old tale than traditionally is told. How lovely if one could give the slipper to the beloved and then have him try to find her anyway just for the fun of it! That was the little fairy's thought at least.
Later in the evening, I had forgotten the glass slippers. Little Piper had not and begged me to let her wear them to church. Of course, I did. When we got there and saw Tom on the stage about to lead worship, she shouted out gleefully,
"Look Mommy! There's the prince! That's who I need to give my glass slipper to!"
And I had to agree with her forever and always.
The Pajama Fairy and her Prince... and some baby feet! More of those feet to come! |
